Gianluca Longo

JOURNALIST

Born in Puglia, he has had an innate interest in fashion and interiors since childhood. Pinning his inherent eclecticism to his upbringing in the South of Italy ‘where popular culture was always met with extravagance’, his passion for all things beautiful soon dovetailed with a love for the arts and design. Thanks also to his extensive and restless travels around the European Capitals, visiting museums and exhibitions, from an early age.

His 27-year long career in magazines has exposed him to the best of fashion, art and design. He is very close to luxury brands, from Creative Directors to CEOs and Marketing Directors. He also met and worked with some of the best creatives in the industry.

Whilst producing beautiful pages in magazines, Gianluca Longo’s multiple interests led him to curate two design exhibitions at London’s David Gill Gallery (‘Young Bright Things’ in 2015 and ‘Vases & Vessels’ in 2017) and he was chosen by Christie’s as Curator of one of their main Interiors Sales in 2020. He regularly hosts talks on Fashion and Design at the London’s Victoria & Albert Museum, and his monthly ‘Interiors for Breakfast’ talk series has reached a cult following.

He has been the Style Director of The World of Interiors, where he injected new energy and vision into the magazine’s new look. He has previously been Style Editor of British Vogue -where he is still a Contributor, and initiated Cabana Magazine. He was European Editor of W magazine from 2012 to 2017. He is now Contributing Style Editor at the newly relaunched Esquire.

Gianluca has also worked as style consultant for luxury brands such as Tods, Poliform, Tory Burch, Ginori 1735, Ralph Lauren, Dior Maison, hosting events, conceiving creative content, art directing projects. He designed Otker’s La Palma Capri exclusive products for the hotel shop.

He sits on the executive board of Oxford’s Pitt Rivers Museum, the National Portrait Gallery, Studio Voltaire. He has been a key figure in the shaping and the success of the first British Museum Ball in 2025. He is part of the Press Committee of the British Fashion Council and he sits in the Advisory Board of Fashion Trust Arabia.
